Post real things that are happening

A market, a gig, a talk, an exhibition, a run club, a street party. If someone could turn up to it, it belongs here. A permanent shop, a product launch with no event attached, or a link you would like people to click does not.

Get the details right

Date, time, venue and price are what people plan around. Check them before you post, and update the listing if they change. If an event is cancelled, archive it rather than leaving it up.

Be straight with people

• No spam, and no posting the same event repeatedly.
• No scams, fake ticket links, or anything designed to take people’s money.
• No pretending to be an organiser, venue or person you are not.
• If a link earns you money, that is fine — but say so in the listing rather than hiding it.

Treat people decently

Comments are for helping other people decide whether to go. No harassment, threats, or hateful content about who someone is. Disagree with an event, not with a person.

Respect other people’s work and privacy

Only upload images you took or have permission to use. Do not post someone’s personal details — address, phone number, workplace — without their say-so, and do not post photos of people who would not want them here.

Nothing illegal

Events or content that are illegal where they take place do not belong on Whatson, and we will remove them.

If you see something wrong

Report it. Every event and comment can be reported, and reports go to moderators rather than to the person who posted. You do not need to explain at length — picking the right reason is enough.

What happens when something breaks these guidelines

We may hide or remove it from public view. An event removed this way stays visible to the person who posted it, marked as removed, so it does not simply vanish. Accounts that keep breaking the guidelines can be suspended.
